Bike Blog

Earned another badge towards my cycling apprenticeship this morning on the way to Hedgehope.

Attacked by a gnarly magpie on the Lorneville-Dacre highway not far from the Mill Rd turn-off. It did at least a couple of sweeps but then buggered off when it realised it wasn’t going to knock me off my bike.

No sooner had I recovered from that when I saw another of the buggers line me up from a paddock far out on my left. I watched it coming from about half a km away. It buzzed me half a dozen times while I tried to outsprint the aerial attack.

Don’t mind admitting there might have been a couple of girlish squeals coming out at one stage.

Luckily no damage to bike or rider and they weren’t there on the return journey. Are there more magpies around this year or am I just getting paranoid about them?
